Getting started with Instacart is easy! Follow these simple steps to set up your account, so you can start shopping for your favorite groceries and essentials right away.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Download the App

For iPhone/iOS: App Link
- Open the App Store.
- Search for "Instacart".
- Tap Get and confirm with your Apple ID or Face ID.
- Wait for it to download and install.

For Android:
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for "Instacart".
- Tap Install.
- Wait for it to download and install.
2. Open the App & Start Sign-up
- Launch the Instacart app.

On the home screen, tap Sign up.
3. Choose Your Sign-Up Method

To sign up with email:
Enter your email address in the Email tab. -
To sign up with your phone:
Switch to the Phone Number tab and enter your phone number. -
Tap Continue.
4. Verify Your Details
- You’ll receive a verification code via email or SMS.
- Check your inbox or messages.
- Enter the 6-digit code in the Enter code box in the app.
- Make sure to do this within 10 minutes; the code expires after that.
5. Enter Your ZIP Code
- Once verified, you'll be asked to enter your ZIP code.
- Input your local ZIP code to personalize your shopping with nearby stores.
- Tap Next or Continue.
6. Skip the Plus Membership (Optional)
- You’ll see an option to sign up for Instacart Plus.
- If you prefer, tap No thanks or Try free for 2 weeks to skip.
- You can always sign up later through the app if you wish.
7. Finish Setup & Start Shopping
- When you see "You're all set", your account is ready!
- The app will show stores near you.
- Choose a store, browse items, and start shopping!
Tips & Troubleshooting
- If the app doesn’t download, check your internet connection.
- Don’t receive your verification code? Wait a few minutes or request a new code.
- Make sure you enter the correct code.
- Remember, Instacart staff will never ask for your verification code.
- For app permission issues, enable location and notifications in your device settings.
